A day of no phones,
internet and gadgets. I woke up in the morning looking first at the window and saying hello to my manual clock. I’ll
take a bath, listen to the hums of vehicles as I lived in the urban place of
Jaro, Iloilo City. After eating my breakfast, I rush to work watching at my manual
clock and would say to myself, “Oh no!! It's already 7:55 AM. I have only 5 minutes to
travel before 8:00 AM." Sadly, I don’t have any earsplitting sound to remind me of my overtime
breakfast. Reaching the office at 8:30 AM due to traffic, I will write my name
in the log sheet and going inside the office saying hi to my table and chair.
And that’s it! A day of my ETERNAL
PEACE AND REST. A day that I don’t have any work done in the office. Why? Because
everything was done in computer and online – my reports in google sheet excel,
word and presentations, webinar meetings and seminars as well as memorandum from the head of office is cascaded online – thru the facebook messenger group
chats, emails and viber.
After
my not so eternal rest as it ends 5 PM, I go on to eat my dinner. I have no
social media to check, Netflix to watch and Instagram to post my favorite
dinner and I can’t connect with my family and loved one. That will be my daily life. And having to imagine that feels like an empty world. Information technology is
like food. I can’t do anything without it in this modern era. I am very
dependent to it, from my personal to professional life. How about you? Could you live a day without it?
