This one particular organization hires a new batch of staff to complement with an existing Community Development Officers under the new established project. The newly hired staff was oriented by the Human Resource Officer on the organizational vision, mission and mandate as well as the organizational structure. These excited newbies attentively listening to the orientation. They had been introduced in every office to meet and greet with their fellow co-workers. A smile, excitement and curiosity can be seen on their faces.

The following day, the strict and bossy supervisor lay down their work assignments and functions. The supervisor, who wants to test their potential, gave them immediate deadlines related to their line of work. The newbies, consume most of their time asking their workmates on the needed data to meet the deadline. One big challenge? Some data needed are printed in hard copy and nowhere to be found. They consume whole day looking at those data just to meet the deadline.

Let’s reverse the story. The strict and bossy supervisor gave them deadline and instructed them to just look in the Knowledge Bank for all the data needed. Well, the staff won’t have hard time to look at those nowhere data.

Indeed, knowledge is power. Knowledge management can save a lot of time for an effective and efficient work results. Knowledge is everywhere but knowledge management organizes it in a way everyone could access in a wink of an eye.
